If you would have told nine-year-old me that one day my job would be learning about sharks and writing stories about them on a podcast, I would have lost my mind (and been very confused about what a podcast is).

Not only did I have a chance to collaborate with an incredible team of scientists, researchers, and storytellers on this show, but there was so much I didn’t know I wanted to know about sharks and the history of Earth. Did you know sharks are older than the Atlantic Ocean?! I didn’t! Wild.

Crafting all ten of these episodes from story-breaking through drafting and recording, was a labor of love. There were a lot of moving parts—AKA lots of notes from various parties that didn’t always align. Fortunately I had an incredible senior producer, Renee Colvert, laughing and crying along with me when it came to implementing feedback, cutting scenes, and at times, starting over with page-one rewrites.

It was such an honor and an incredible experience to join this franchise! Would love to do it again!

 

SAMPLE EPISODES

These two episodes were my favorites and really highlight the different story telling techniques I was able to utilize in this series. Both blend science and humor, in very different ways.

I loved writing the Shark Sex episode because our team really got to highlight so many talents with the vignettes and sound design.

The Alien Sharks episode is thematically different and a little creepier than our other episodes. I really enjoyed taking the listener on an eerie tour of the ocean in our imaginary submarine.
